Kevin De Bruyne shares what he told his Man City teammates about his goalscoring record

Kevin De Bruyne has shared what he said to his Manchester City teammates about his goalscoring record.

In City’s recent 4-2 win over Crystal Palace in the Premier League, the midfielder scored his 99th and 100th goals for the Citizens, making him 18th man in the club’s history to reach three figures for goals scored.

After reaching this achievement, the Belgian revealed what he said to two of his teammates about this particular milestone.

Speaking after the Palace match (via Man City) De Bruyne had this to say about his goalscoring record.

He said: “Yeah, it’s funny. I had a conversation with Erling [Haaland] and Phil [Foden] and said the only goal I want is to score 100 before you guys.

“Erling was like 18 behind but he would probably score that in two games!

“It’s a proud moment. It means that I’ve had longevity here. It means a lot of good moments for this club. It’s been my home, hasn’t it? I’ve come when I was basically still a young kid. Now I’m an older man in this squad and I have three kids who grow up very quickly.

“I’ve had so many good moments with the team and we won many trophies and parades. It’s hard to put into context but I appreciate everything that has happened and I think the supporters and club do too.”

Having also delivered 167 assists across his 372 appearances for the Manchester club since his arrival from Wolfsburg back in 2015, there’s no doubt De Bruyne has been a top signing and a key figure in City’s success over the past nine years.

With the midfielder sharing how much he wanted to beat Foden (81) and Haaland (82) to 100 goals for City, this highlights the friendly but competitive edge the players in Pep Guardiola’s have.

Moving forward, if the Belgian can add even more goals and assists to his impressive tally this season, he will give his side a chance of lifting even more silverware.
